HOW TO REACH VIENNA :

BY AIRPLANE

The international airport Vienna Schwechat is 18 km south east displaced from the city center.Its terminal is the most important of the Country where aircrafts land and take off to the most important european and extraeuropean capitals.Those people who arrive in Vienna by plane can reach the city center by bus,by train or by underground. The reference stations are: City air terminal for the bus line,Westbahnhof and Sudbahnhof for the railway line,Nordbahnhof and Wien Mitte for the underground one.

BY TRAIN

The Austrian railway line is well organized and connected to the european railway communication system .People coming from the south get off at Sudbahnhof whereas the trains coming from west reach Westbahnhof station.

BY CAR

The Broad motorways which join Vienna to the main european cities are E59 southwards to Graz-Villach-north Italy and Northwards to Czech Republic,and E60 Westwards to Salisbury –Germany and Eastwards to Slovakia. Those people who drive along the nation have to buy a special stamp(Vignette for Austrian) to be sticked on the windscreen of their car before crossing the frontier, having so the permission to drive on the local motorways. In Austria there are also some alpin ways and some privatized streets where a fee-paying is required.

 


HOW TO MOVE:

UNDERGROUND

Vienna underground is recent and offers to its passengers five lines which cross the city and links up the city center with the suburbs.The subterranean link runs every days from 5 a.m to 12.30 p.m,transporting the travellers to the chief touristic attractions .Like many other big european cities,Vienna also has builded car parkings linked to some underground stations where it’s possible to leave its own car and to use public transports.

TRAM-SUBURBAN RAILWAY

The tramcar railway is well organized and with its routes covers every part of the city. The colours of this mean of transport are white and red. Suburban railways link up the center with the far-off suburbs and with the airport.

BUS

Among the means of transport the bus is the only one which offers both daily and night runs.
Buses cross the city covering many and frequent distances. After midnight the intervals between one run and another are longer than the day.

TICKETS

Single tickets can be bought directly on the mean of transport, whereas the tickets valid for 1 or 3 days which allow the use of every public mean of transport, can be bought at tobacconist’s shops or at tickets automatic dispensers or also at underground stations. The tourists should use Vienna card which permit to use every mean of transport and offer a price reduction for museums, theaters, restaurants, Breakfast bars and more.
